Preparing the car for summer

In recent years, long-distance trips in the summer are rapidly gaining popularity. It is unpleasant if a planned vacation on the shores of the warm sea will be ruptured by a car breakdown. Many drivers do not give the preparation of the car to the summer of fundamental importance and absolutely in vain. Summer hot days are not less dangerous than winter with ice and snow.

  • The replacement of winter tires for summer tires​

In spring, when the average daily temperature is set to more than 10 degrees (April month), you need to change the tires. Winter tires are replaced by summer tires.

Operation of the car on winter tires in the summer is dangerous. The efficiency of inhibition decreases several times. After installing the tires, the manufacturer's recommended pressure is established, whinch is indicates in the tire marking.

If there is a significant wear of the tread or its deep damage, it is inadmissible to use the tire. It must be replaced.

  • Level of working fluids

The following working fluids are emitted in the car:

  • engine oil;
  • antifreeze (cooling of the motor), the optimum level is indicated on the expansion tank;
  • brake fluid, the level is checked by a feeler gauge.

Replacing the air filter and interior filter in the car must be carried out depending on the mileage. The oil filter changes with the engine oil. The frequency of oil change depends on its quality, intensity of use of the machine and load on the motor.

For the diesel engine, the recommended replacement interval is every 10 thousand kilometers, for gasoline engines - 12 thousand kilometers.

  • Checking the engine cooling system

The system of the car undergoes severe loads in the heat. The slightest malfunctions and shortcomings in its operation can appear at the most inopportune moment. In what to pay attention to:

  • Antifreeze fluid level;
  • the condition of the thermostat;
  • condition of nozzles and hoses;
  • elimination of leaks;
  • level of pollution.

Overheating of the engine of the car at a lack of a cooling liquid can lead to its damage and failure. Laziness of the driver will result in substantial material costs.

  • Checking the brake system

It is mandatory to inspect the hoses for cracks and damage. The slightest changes in the integrity of the hose require replacement. Brake fluid leaks are not permissible. Failure of brakes during the movement of the car is fraught with sad consequences.

The appearance of a squeak of brakes after the winter speaks about the need for their inspection. Deterioration of brake pads or disks is possible. Replacement of blocks and disks is carried out necessarily on two wheels of one axis.

  • Ignition system

Without a working ignition system, it's impossible to go far. Attention should be paid to:

  1. The battery - is checked by a voltmeter in the morning hours before the engine starts. The normal battery level is 12.4-12.7 volts. Indications below 12 volts indicate the need to charge the battery. Low battery power in transit can lead to problems with starting the motor.
  2. Ignition candles - the head of each candle is carefully inspected. It is a reliable indicator of operability. If it is sooty - increased fuel consumption. A white raid is detected - insufficient mixing of the fuel-air mixture. Changed color - indicates the excessive use of additives for fuel. Greasy stains on the head - problems with oil-removable caps.

 

  • Air conditioning system

Failure of the air conditioner in the car in the hot summer can turn the trip into a real hell. Not every healthy person is able to withstand the test with stuffiness and high temperature.

Before the beginning of the summer season, it is necessary to check the pressure in the air-conditioning system. If there is a Freon leak the pressure in the system will decrease. The soldering of places of leakage and refilling of freon is required.
