Finding a replacement for copper was not easy. But the engineers of the American laboratory Bosch, together with the headquarters in Germany, coped with this task and in 2014 patented the Copper-free NAO friction compound. Today, almost the entire range of Bosch's Blue Line brake pads in Europe is made from a friction compound that does not contain copper and other environmentally hazardous components. Eco-friendly Bosch pads are not only not inferior, but in some respects even surpasses conventional copper pads
